Rugby Jersey

Rugby is a sport that originated in England. Rugby is a team game played with an elliptical shaped ball. The aim of rugby is to get the ball past the opposing team. When this is done, points are awarded. Amongst the rules of the game, the ball can only be passed backwards, whereas it can be kicked in any direction. Only the player in possession of the ball can be tackled. A possible example of such a tackle is by grabbing the player concerned below the shoulders. Amongst other things, the intention of this is to bring the tackled player to the ground. If this happens or the tackled player touches the ground with a part of the body other than the soles of their feet, then they must release the ball.

Rugby Kit

For club rugby players, the wearing of a gum-shield during a match is obligatory. The rest of the rugby kit for players generally consists of shorts, a rugby top, knee length socks and studded boots. Rugby tops can for instance be fitted with shoulder pads of thin foam. Hard shoulder pads are not allowed in rugby. Rugby Shirts are available in many versions from various manufacturers. Rugby Jerseys can also be individually designed for a rugby team.

History of Rugby

The first rugby association (the Rugby Football Union, RFU) was founded in 1871 and emerged from the English Football Association (FA). Today there are two different types of rugby (both at a professional level as well). One is rugby union, the other rugby league. Rugby union was always regarded predominately as an upper-class sport whereas rugby league was viewed as that of the working class. Today, rugby union is the most widespread form of rugby. Rugby union is played both with 15 and 7 players. Rugby was the basis for the development of American and Canadian football.
