Baseball, the American sport rich in tradition, is not just loved now by the Americans but also millions of people around the whole world. This technically demanding and complex sport is noted particularly for its unlimited playing time (9 innings are always played) and its unique combination of individual and team performances. The first recorded team are the New York Knickerbockers from 1845. After the sport spread from the Midwest to other regions of the USA, new teams continued to be founded. Nowadays in the American professional league, the Major League, there are 30 teams in all competing in two divisions (American and National League). Baseball became extremely popular above all in the 80s and 90s in Germany. In Bundesliga 1 eight teams represent the north and seven the south. Indeed, baseball is also played with great commitment in the other German leagues such as the regional or state leagues. Around 30.000 players are actively devoted to this sport in Germany.

Baseball Clothing

Although baseball is relatively new in Germany, the teams are now very well equipped. Along with the bats and gloves, the baseball Jersey is unmistakeably associated with the sport of baseball. The incomparable look, comprising of long bottoms that fit tightly around the ankles, a buttoned baseball shirt and the popular baseball cap, is complemented by the baseball jersey or baseball top. The demands on baseball clothing are high. The baseball top does not just need to guarantee unrestricted freedom to move when pitching or batting, but it must be able to withstand endless sliding on sandy ground. From the baggy knickerbockers when baseball was born, through the knee-length, tight baseball trousers of the 70s and 80s and to today's ankle-length trousers, baseball clothing constantly represents the elegance and beauty of a sport steeped in tradition.
